Employment Services

Employment Services for Job Seekers with Disabilities

The Whole Person’s Employment Services program provides services exclusively through our Provider Agreement with Missouri Vocational Rehabilitation. Their goal and ours is to help people with disabilities find careers which match their strengths, abilities, conditions and preferences for employment.

Individuals residing in Kansas are encouraged to contact Kansas Vocational Services which are provided through the State of Kansas Department of Children and Families (DCF) at 1-866-213-9079.

Missouri Vocational Rehabilitation is able to fund a range of services, including

  • Career guidance
  • Aptitude testing
  • Job placement assistance
  • College or technical school training
  • On-the-job training
  • Job supports
  • Artificial limbs, wheelchairs, assistive technology
  • Driver’s evaluation, vehicle modification and training to use such equipment
  • Transportation reimbursement
  • Tools and equipment required to enter or maintain a job
  • Guidance on accommodations for school or work

If you have a need for any of the funded services provided by Missouri Vocational Rehabilitation, it will be to your benefit to contact them. They will supply a list of service providers to choose from which includes The Whole Person.

There are three Missouri Vocational Rehabilitation offices serving the Kansas City metropolitan area. You may contact the office nearest you to schedule an appointment with a counselor who will help you get started.

Employment Services at The Whole Person

Eligibility Requirements: Requirements for participation include: (a) the job seeker must identify as a person with a disability; (b) must be between the ages of 17 and 64; and (c) must be referred by Vocational Rehabilitation. Each job seeker is asked to sign a Participation Agreement which outlines the requirements for ongoing participation including the need for attendance, active participation and timely progress.

We will help you develop: An Employment Service Plan which utilizes the information provided by your Vocational Rehabilitation counselor and by spending time with you.  We will create an Employment Service Plan which outlines the services to be provided to you to help you achieve your vocational goal. The Plan must be approved by you and your Vocational Rehabilitation counselor.

An Action Plan which contains the action steps considered necessary to reach your stated vocational goal. This Plan is derived from and mirrors the Employment Service Plan. In addition, we provide the following services to ensure your employment success:
