Personal Care Attendant (PCA) Training

Kansas City is facing a growing need for in-home care as our community ages and more people with disabilities choose to live independently. The Whole Person is training PCAs to support individuals in their homes and communities through our Consumer Directed Services and In-Home Care programs. About the Training & Registration We are looking for 10 students who would like to learn how to become a PCA. Our training is held at The Whole Person, and each student receives a $900 stipend. All participants need to attend all sessions. Spring Community ASL Class – Session 2

Event Description: The class meets every week beginning on Wednesday, April 15 – May 20, from 5:45 – 7:00 pm. (April 15, 22, 29 & May 6, 13, 20) Event Cost: $50/per person (for 6 classes) – limited to 15 participants Class Objective: The participants will learn the manual alphabet, numbers, WH-Questions, 100 basic signs (from ASL University and ASL That!), basic conversation words and phrases (from Meredith ASL), and Deaf Culture. This basic ASL class is not designed to certify those who are interested in becoming interpreters. No Voice Policy: The participants will learn ASL more quickly and effectively. Good language learning requires active learning. Full immersion helps develop better receptive and expressive skills. The participants will find that struggling to put all their thoughts into ASL for these one hour and fifteen minutes in class will have a marked effect on their communicative fluency. Full participation is expected. *Only registered students may attend. Class size limited to 15 participants. This session is sold out.

MARC Workshop: Public Transit Human Services Transportation Plan

Have your voice heard! The Mid-America Regional Council (MARC), along with regional transportation partners, is updating the Coordinated Public Transit–Human Services Transportation Plan. This plan helps guide improvements for older adults, people with disabilities, and low-income riders who rely on public transit, paratransit, and other mobility services. Join this workshop to share your experiences, challenges, and ideas to make transportation in our region more accessible and effective. Junior ASL Class 2025
