Social Security Disability Benefits Support
The Whole Person helps individuals apply for Social Security Disability benefits (SSI and SSDI) or appeal a denial. If you’re unable to work due to a disability, our Work Incentive Practitioner can guide you through the process—making it easier to understand, manage, and complete the necessary steps.
We’ll assist with your application, gather the required documentation, and help you communicate with the Social Security Administration (SSA) and Disability Determination Services (DDS).
We’ll also explain what to expect, help you respond to requests, and keep you updated throughout your case. If your claim is denied, we can support you through the appeals process and help prepare your case for a hearing.
Because many steps are time-sensitive, it’s important to reach out as soon as possible to begin building your case.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who can apply for disability benefits?
Anyone who is a U.S. citizen or legal resident with a qualifying disability can apply. The type of benefit (SSI or SSDI) you may qualify for depends on your income and work history.
How long does it take to get a decision?
Every case is different. There’s no set timeline, but some cases may be expedited if they meet specific medical criteria.
Are all disability claims denied at first?
Not always. While some are denied initially, others are approved. Each case is evaluated individually. If denied, you have the right to appeal—and we can help with that.
Do I have to be in medical treatment before I apply?
Medical documentation is required, but if you are not currently receiving treatment, you may still apply. SSA considers your medical history and may allow for exceptions based on your situation.
