Fall Community ASL Class – Session 1
The Whole Person

We connect people with disabilities to the right resources, support their independence, and work for positive change in our community.

Organized by Micki Keck

Learn ASL with us! Session 1 of our fall classes meets every week beginning on Wednesday, September 2 – October 7, from 5:45pm – 7:00pm. (Sept 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, Oct 7)

Event Cost: $50/per person (for 6 classes) – limited to 15 participants

Class Objective:  The participants will learn manual alphabet, numbers, WH-Questions, 100 basic signs (from ASL University and ASL That!), basic conversation words and phrases (from Meredith ASL), and Deaf Culture. This basic ASL class is not designed to certify those who are interested in becoming interpreters.

No Voice Policy:  The participants will learn ASL more quickly and effectively. Good language learning requires active learning. Full immersion helps develop better receptive and expressive skills. The participants will find that struggling to put all their thoughts into ASL for these one hour and fifteen minutes in class will have a marked effect on their communicative fluency.  Full participation is expected.

*Only registered students may attend. Class size limited to 15 participants.
