Deaf Peer Support Group

Looking to connect with others in the Deaf community? This July, join us for a welcoming and inclusive gathering where Deaf peers come together to share experiences, build connections, and celebrate community, especially during a month that honors disability identity and pride. Meetings are held quarterly—come be a part of it!

DIY Life Skills – July

Join The Whole Person for DIY Life Skills, a peer group designed for youth ages 18-24 who want to learn and strengthen their independent living skills. Held every 3rd Wednesday of the month from 2:00–3:00 PM, this small-group setting is open to all Consumers and covers essential topics like relationships, communication, hygiene, advocacy, healthy eating, employment, and more! July’s Theme: Communication Skills In July, we’ll explore the different types of communication we use every day and why each one is important. We’ll discuss how we communicate verbally through spoken words, nonverbally through body language, in writing through texts and emails, and visually through images. Understanding all these forms of communication helps us connect more effectively with others. After the discussion, we’ll engage in a fun craft to reinforce the idea of how we express ourselves! We’ll discuss key safety tips, such as what to avoid near pools and the best practices to prevent accidents. A speaker will share valuable insights, offering guidance on staying safe around pools this summer. Afterward, we’ll have a fun craft activity—creating Mason jar aquariums! May’s Theme: Manners Matter In May, we’ll focus on why having good manners is important in building positive relationships and creating a respectful environment. We’ll discuss how using manners every day can make a big difference in how we communicate and interact with others. Tech Talk – Blind/Low Vision

Tech Talk is a virtual peer support group for individuals who are blind or have low vision, held on Microsoft Teams every second Monday of the month from 6:30–7:30 pm. Each session features an expert guest speaker sharing valuable insights and resources on topics that matter to our participants. From assistive technology to accessibility solutions, Tech Talk is your space to explore tools that enhance independence and connect with a supportive community—all from the comfort of your own home.
