Kansas City Ballet: Sensory-Friendly Nutcracker
Kansas City Ballet is thrilled to present a performance of a sensory-friendly Nutcracker for neurodivergent children, families, and adults. Appropriate changes will be made to this performance to create a welcoming and safe space for all in attendance. The Kansas City Ballet is pleased to be working with the Kansas City Symphony to provide live music for this performance while remaining sensitive to the needs of our audience. What makes this performance sensory-friendly? Reduced sound levels, including loud and surprising noises House lights will remain half-lit Relaxed house rules…freedom to get up and move around, use of electronic devices is permitted, and permission to talk freely during the performance Designated quiet spaces will be available throughout the evening Trained staff, ushers, and volunteers to assist patrons Tickets are just $25—on sale now! White Cane Safety Day
The Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired (CCVI) invites the community to the 2nd Annual White Cane Safety Day Celebration. This event honors the white cane as a symbol of independence for people who are blind or visually impaired, while bringing families and community members together. The celebration begins with an Accessibility Parade at 11:15 AM, followed by an afternoon of activities including a pumpkin patch, crafts, fall-themed sensory stations, beep kickball, live music, and more. The Whole Person is proud to partner with CCVI for this event and will be onsite to share resources and connect with families. Free and open to the public – all are welcome.
