The Blindness Low Vision Experience Activities
The Whole Person’s Blindness Low Vision Experience program encourages individuals to enjoy opportunities to achieve greater independence and access to the community through physical and outdoor activities, art and cultural events and other experiences.
Examples of activities include "Yoga for Everyone!" (flexibility and strength class), "Time to Spare" (accessible bowling), Tech Talk (guest speakers on a variety of topics), Mind's Eye View Peer Support Group and adaptive sports activities throughout the year. Each activity meets on different dates and times depending on activities. See calendar listings below.

BLVE Calendar
Mind's Eye View is a peer support group for blind and low-vision consumers. It is a recurring virtual event, on the first Monday of the month from 6:30-7:30pm, and is consumer-led in which they bring up topics they would like to discuss.

Immerse yourself in nature like never before! This unique event invites you to explore the outdoors through your senses of touch, smell, and sound—challenging you to experience the natural world without relying on sight. This 90-minute to 2-hour program is designed specifically for individuals who are blind or have low vision, encouraging a deep connection with the natural world.
The event includes an engaging indoor activity focused on Missouri wildlife and a guided outdoor nature walk. You’ll learn how animals and plants use their senses to survive, and then experience the rich textures, earthy scents, and melodic sounds of the natural world.
Whether you’re a nature enthusiast or just looking for a new way to connect with the outdoors, this experience will deepen your appreciation for how wildlife adapts and thrives. Join us for an unforgettable journey that awakens your senses and changes the way you see nature—without actually seeing it.

Tech Talk is a virtual peer support group for individuals who are blind or have low vision, held on Microsoft Teams every second Monday of the month from 6:30–7:30 pm.
Each session features an expert guest speaker sharing valuable insights and resources on topics that matter to our participants. From assistive technology to accessibility solutions, Tech Talk is your space to explore tools that enhance independence and connect with a supportive community—all from the comfort of your own home.

Join us for a Blind and Low Vision outing at the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts!
Explore the rich history and breathtaking architecture of this world-class venue through a guided experience tailored to engage your senses. During the tour, you’ll learn about the artistry behind the building’s design and its role in the Kansas City arts community. Get a behind-the-scenes look at what makes the Kauffman Center a cultural landmark, with opportunities to ask questions.

Tour Route & Accessibility:
The tour will last approximately one hour, and there are opportunities along the route to sit and rest while the tour guide shares information. The tour route is accessible for folks using mobility devices, but please let us know if you need additional accommodations.

Open to all individuals with disabilities.
Come and join TWP for an enjoyable afternoon of bowling. The Whole Person will cover the cost for each participant to bowl ONE game.

You are required to fill out the Liability Waiver BEFORE you play bowling for this event. Use the link below to fill out the waiver. You can either print the waiver and give it to Halley at the event or email the filled-out waiver to Halley.
If you can't make it this time, don't worry! TWP organizes bowling events on the third Wednesday of each month, from Noon to 1:30pm, at KC Bowl. Feel free to mark your calendars and join us for future bowling sessions.
