The Whole Person To Debut New Adaptive Sports Equipment From The Hartford
Company to surprise a local athlete with custom-fit adaptive sports equipment
The Whole Person, a non-profit organization based in Kansas City, MO, and a member of the Move United network, will debut new adaptive sports equipment purchased with a recently awarded $50,000 grant from The Hartford. The grant will enable The Whole Person to enhance its adaptive sports programming through the purchase of 12 adaptive cycles, helmets, and accessories. The Hartford will also surprise a local 15-year-old athlete with custom-fit adaptive sports equipment.
Adaptive sports equipment is often a barrier to people’s participation in sports. Adaptive athletes pay approximately 15 times more for equipment than non-adaptive athletes. Over the past five years, The Hartford has gifted more than 5,500 pieces of adaptive sports equipment.
