We will not be traveling to state Capitol this year.

3 Options for Participation:

2) Share your IL Story via written or video testimonial
3) In-Person Lunch &/or Virtual Meetings with Elected Officials

For nearly 20 years, disability advocates from around Missouri have traveled to the State Capitol to participate in Disability Rights Legislative Day and have their voices heard. This year, even though we're in the middle of a pandemic, you can still participate in this important event - online!

The event will be held virtually so people with disabilities, family members, and others can participate regardless of where they live in the state. The more people that participate, the more we can advocate for what's important to us and show the legislature that we are all "In This Together!"

Disability Rights Legislative Day will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. A rally will take place from 11 a.m. to noon and will feature an impressive lineup of speakers, including Gov. Mike Parson, various legislators, and our very own TWP Consumer Camille Givens. After the rally, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., advocates can meet virtually with their legislators and advocate on important disability issues.

As part of the "In This Together" theme, there are three topics that the event will focus on:
• Support Our Lives = Support Our Staff: For many people with disabilities, reliable support staff are critical to a happy, healthy, and productive life.
• Support Our Lives = Support Our Inclusion: Students with disabilities shouldn't be subjected to restraint and seclusion.
• Support Our Lives = Support Our Work: People with disabilities can and want to work.

During the rally, both legislators and advocates will cover these topics. When you meet with your legislators, you can talk about these topics or any other issues that impact your life each and every day.

Don't miss this opportunity to participate in the 20th anniversary of Disability Rights Legislative Day and show the legislature that we're all "In This Together!"
