The Blindness Low Vision Experience Activities
The Whole Person’s Blindness Low Vision Experience program encourages individuals to enjoy opportunities to achieve greater independence and access to the community through physical and outdoor activities, art and cultural events and other experiences.
Examples of activities include "Yoga for Everyone!" (flexibility and strength class), "Time to Spare" (accessible bowling), Tech Talk (guest speakers on a variety of topics), Mind's Eye View Peer Support Group and adaptive sports activities throughout the year. Each activity meets on different dates and times depending on activities. See calendar listings below.
TWP creates accessible documents for all our programs to support participants who are blind or have low vision. Contact Halley Korff for assistance.

Whether you are new to vision loss, in the process of losing vision, or vision loss has always been a part of your life, you may be interested in “Mind’s Eye View.” This group is a solution-focused peer support group for people with vision loss seeking to live independent, fulfilling, self-supporting lives, fully integrated into society's mainstream. “Mind’s Eye View” will meet monthly from 5:00-6:00 pm on the first Monday of each month, at The Whole Person to discuss issues faced by people who are blind or low vision and explore strategies for achieving and maintaining emotional, psychological and social well-being.
Here’s your chance to socialize and soak up some of that amazing alley atmosphere. Come experience accessible bowling, guaranteed to reduce the frequency of gutter balls! Cost: $3.50 per game.
All aboard RideKC! You choose where to explore, which bus route to practice. (Times and dates for scheduling this event are flexible.)
The forms are online for Midwest Adaptive Sports activities at Snow Creek, and instead of downhill skiing on January 25, the BLVE will be participating in Tubing 101 on Wednesday evening, January 15. This event is free of charge, and we will be meeting at TWP at 3 to prepare to travel as a group to Snow Creek. Please let me know if you wish to attend but plan on using private transportation. Anyone and everyone can participate, and a few pairs of eyes would be helpful. There are FOUR forms that must be filled out for Tubing 101, and it is extremely important to RSVPand get started on these as soon as possible.
1. Tubing 101 Registration Form (can be filled out online)
2. Snow Creek Tubing Release (can be filled out online)
3. DSUSA Liability Release part 1 also online
4. DSUSA Liability Release part 2 online
