Winzel is a huge fan of music and he injects his works with visual and playful “beats”, resulting in something that reads like some other-worldly sheet music. His lines and symbols play with one another through color and repetition, without any of them looking exactly the same as the last. During his time at Imagine That!, he has grown in his practice, first using conventional surfaces like canvas and paper, then moving toward more unconventional surfaces like magazine pages and photographs. The latter result in altered landscapes where his symbolic musical beats can swim and flow in their own environment.
